USTA Southern NJTL Summer Camp Brings Youth Together in Louisville

The USTA Southern National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) Summer Camp took place this June in Louisville, Kentucky, offering an unforgettable experience for young tennis players from across the region. Held over the weekend of June 19–22, the camp welcomed 55 participants and chaperones from six of the nine USTA Southern Section states. Each NJTL chapter was invited to send up to two campers, creating a diverse and vibrant group of young athletes and leaders.

Throughout the long weekend, campers were immersed in a wide range of educational, cultural, and athletic experiences. The itinerary included:

  • Leadership activities designed to develop communication, teamwork, and confidence.

  • A tour of the Muhammad Ali Center

  • A visit to the Kentucky Horse Park

  • Got to listen to Dr. Aretha Fuqua from the West Louisville Tennis Club give insight on the history of West Louisville

  • Participation in the Charles Crawford Juneteenth Tournament

  • A campus tour of the University of Louisville

  • A Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) workshop, offering on-court instruction and match play to improve skills and spark future coaching interest.

The camp provided a unique blend of sport, culture, and personal development.

By connecting youth from different backgrounds and states, the 2025 NJTL Summer Camp in Louisville provided the power of tennis as a tool for growth, learning, and lifelong friendships.
