PLAY IT FORWARD GRANT OPEN!
USTA Southern has opened registration for grant applications for the Play It Forward initiative.  Over $1.2 million is available for programs and tournaments focused on innovative ideas and growth based programming.  For more details on the grant requirements, click here.  For the actual application, you can click here.  The deadline for this quarter will be March 31st, 2016.  For additional questions on the grant, please email John Callen at callen@sta.usta.com

February 2016 Adult League Captain of the Month
Congratulations to Teresa Geyling from Lexington!  Teresa has been captaining for two years, she has advanced with those teams both years to compete at the state championships.  Being an organizer and coach at heart, Teresa loves the aspect of seeing her teammates grow and improve in their game.  To read more about Teresa, please click here.

The Tennis Service Representative for Kentucky will increase participation in tennis by promoting, developing and servicing tennis programs through establishment of strong relationships with the local delivery system, including tennis and non-tennis facilities and organizations.

USTA Kentucky Announces Dr. Jason Miller as New Executive Director
Terry L. Bunnell, President of USTA Kentucky, is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Jason Miller as the new Executive Director for USTA Kentucky. Previously, Miller was a Tennis Service Representative with USTA-Southern serving Kentucky.

Bunnell commented, “I am very excited to have Jason joining the USTA Kentucky team. He brings a wealth of tennis programing experience and his established relationships in the tennis community are awesome.  Jason is well respected in the state and I look forward to working with him as he builds upon the tennis foundation we have and develops new opportunities for the growth of tennis”.

Miller was employed with USTA-Southern for ten years and has an educational background as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. Miller is an Elite Tennis Professional with United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), an Adult Development and 10 and Under Professional with Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), and a member of the USTA National Workshop Faculty. Miller has a Doctoral Degree from the University of Louisville, a Master of Science Degree from the University of Louisville, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University. Also, Miller competed on the collegiate level of tennis.
Miller will begin his new duties on January 1, 2016.
 


USTA Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame
USTA Kentucky would like to congratulate the 2015 Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame inductees: Kevin Collins, Louisville, Susan Habeeb, Louisville and posthumously Charles Saacke, Jr.  The Hall of Fame Luncheon will be January 30, 2016 at Marriott Louisville East.

Raise a Racquet Foundation for Kentucky Tennis

The Raise a Racquet Foundation is USTA Kentucky's Endowment Fund and is it's own separate 501(c)3 entity, overseen by USTA Kentucky's Board of Directors. Through the funds raised, Raise a Racquet is able to carry out charitable good works to the Kentucky tennis community. In 2015, Raise a Racquet was able to award $3000 in college scholarships via the Jason Isaacs Scholarship Fund. Raise a Racquet also awarded $4000 for tournament travel, fees for clinics and camps for juniors who may otherwise would not have been able to participate. Raise A Racquet also provides a variety of resources and opportunities for individuals with disabilities, as well as wounded, ill, and injured veterans to enjoy and play the game.
