March Letter From the President

It’s March and Basketball is King in Kentucky! It is exciting, fast paced and fun. Tennis is also gearing up in Kentucky with many of the same attributes, as every tennis community in Kentucky, from junior to Adult, ramps into high gear,

I entreat each of you to share this great sport with a friend, family member, office worker or anyone who you think might share in our love of the game. USTA Kentucky has program offerings for everyone: from young to old, from beginner to advanced, and even from social to competitive.  You are the best ambassador to this great sport!

One of my favorite new programs is Tennis Apprentice. This is an all-inclusive program designed for the beginning tennis player. The package includes USTA membership, Head tennis racket, on-court instruction, social networking and transitional opportunities to USTA Leagues and Tournaments. This program can be run by Tennis Professionals, facility coordinators, local coordinators and CTAs. If you are interested in finding a Tennis Apprentice program near you or are interested in running one of these programs please Click Here.

Another program which is proving to be a huge success are the new Adult Recreational Leagues currently being offered in Louisville, Lexington and Paducah. These programs target the young professionals under forty and have an after match social component involving food, libations and camaraderie. They have proven to be very popular and resulted in numerous players transitioning over to other League programs. If you are interested in participating or know of anyone who might be interested in running one of these programs please contact Bryan Hash.

These are only two examples of the excellent programming offered by USTA. So as you begin your tennis season, please remember to spread the joy of this phenomenal sport with others. You could be the impetus in changing someone’s life.
