JCPS Elementary School League Celebration

The JCPS Elementary School League finished with a wonderful end of season celebration and tournament.  The tournament had 33 participants and all of the 7 schools in the league were represented.  In the final match for the girls’ division, Allison from Gilmore Lane Elementary defeated Lamyia from Luhr Elementary.  In the final match for the boys’ division, Jackson from Luhr, defeated Matthew from Gilmore Lane Elementary.  All finalists received tennis racquets and tennis balls as prizes.  After the tournament, all awards from the elementary league were given out.  In the league, Slaughter Elementary and Luhr Elementary tied as the runners-up and Gilmore Lane was the league champion.  Gilmore Lane also received the team sportsmanship award. Jocelyn Campbell and Grace Purvis, both from Indian Trail Elementary, received individual Hustle Awards for exemplary effort over the season.

We hope to see even more elementary schools participate in the league next year, and we wish the best of luck to our 5th graders who will be moving on to play middle school tennis in the fall.
