Spring is upon us here in Kentucky and with it brings renewal and rebirth. As a volunteer, this is the time in the tennis calendar when I find inspiration and renewed motivation to improve upon the delivery system and increase exposure of tennis to more people in our state. I have recently returned from the semi-annual meeting for USTA national. These meetings renew, inspire and motivate all of the volunteers and especially myself.
It was held at the new USTA National Campus located in Orlando Florida at Lake Nona. It is amazing! This Campus has to be one of the most forward thinking new ideas put forth by USTA and is the new Home of American Tennis. It is definitely a game changer. With 100 courts of varying surfaces and state-of-the-art technology spread across 64 beautiful acres, it is a resource for ALL tennis players from kids to high school to college to adults. How will this Campus influence American tennis? Here are just a few of the ways:
- Nemours Family Zone: 36’ and 60’ courts help accelerate learning for 10 and under youth and beginning adults.
- Youth development: programs for participation and competition for players ages 11-17.
- Campus Excellence: learn the best tools for optimal competitive performance by following USTA development training philosophy.
- Adult Programs: Daytime and evening programs for every level of play and experience.
- Private Lessons: For players who prefer individual or small group coaching.
- Camps: summer and holiday camps for both youth and adults.
- Courts: whether you are in town for a few days or a local looking for court time with friends, there is court for you.
- Special Events and League Play: Information is now available.
As you can see from the above list, the National Campus is for all tennis players. There is an entire pathway for the American tennis player from youth to seniors. I encourage every tennis player in Kentucky to learn more about the new home of American tennis at ustanationalcampus.com. This is YOUR home for tennis in America!
